Girls Soccer Battles through to Earn a Spot in Playoffs
After winning their first 4 games of the season, things were looking bright for the SDJA girls soccer team. But then they went through a real rough patch losing the next 6 games. However, they persevered and even though they only won 1 league game and tied another league game, they get a chance at post peason CIF Playoffs!! Girls Soccer have 7 seniors on the team, all who are excited to continue into post season. Joana Zaga, a junior, was the teams lead scorer finishing the regular season with 18 goals. Next was Senior Lilli Simmonds with 8 goals. And both seniors, Goalie Denise Lombrozo and 2nd Goalie Kate Aizin had 52 saves and 36 saves respectively. Pretty impressive for two girls that have never even played soccer before!
Their first game of the D5 CIF Playoffs is Wednesday 2/16 vs Southwest Eagles in El Centro at 5pm. Fill up the bus and get out to El Centro to cheer on our Lady Lions Soccer Team!!
